2009 Florida 4-H Centennial Celebration

2009 will be here before you know it and with that comes the Florida 4-H Centennial Celebration! A planning committee has already gotten together to begin preparations. The purpose of the committee and celebration is to promote the legacy of Florida 4-H. It will help document 4-H's history by researching past decades and guide 4-H's move into the future.

NEW! Centennial Kickoff Event

Florida 4-H will kickoff the Centennial Celebration at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, FL, February 5-16, 2009. We will be hosting a 6-hole putt-putt golf course in the Ag Hall of Fame Building on the Florida State Fairgrounds. Each hole will be decorated to represent a different program area offered in 4-H. Every 4-H district will be represented with a district banner hanging from the ceiling. Our Florida 4-H History Books and other items will be sold at this event as well. We need your help! More...

Announcing the Faces of Florida 4-H

faceWe are happy to announce the Faces of Florida 4-H! On June 2, 2008, the selected "Faces" met in Gainesville to film one-on-one interviews. Congratulations to all of our participants! Keep a look out for the video!.

4-H History

4-H began as a simultaneous response to needs throughout the country, rather than as the idea of one individual. The goal of the program was to extend agricultural education to rural youth by organizing boys and girls clubs and through "learning by doing." Click Here to learn more about the history of 4-H.

Submissions can be sent here.

Please send stories and insights that are of a family-friendly nature. Photos that you send should be of a decent resolution.

Also, be understanding if your comments aren't up right away. Due to time constraints and other limitations, it may take more than a few days to get comments up.
